First Baptist

KiDs

We look forward to seeing you at our KiDs events. As a guest, it is our desire that you and your children have a wonderful first experience. Our staff and volunteers work hard to make your visit meaningful and safe. Here are a few things to expect:

  • We recommend arriving a few minutes early before the service begins.
  • When you arrive, please come to the KiDs Check-In Station.
  • Friendly volunteers will help register your family. Each child will receive a nametag with a security code. Parents will receive a claim ticket with the same security code, which must be presented to the room volunteers when picking up your child.
  • All of our volunteers receive a criminal background check

We provide a safe, nurturing environment for care, activity, and instruction in the following areas…

  • Nursery: 6 weeks - 12 months
  • 1-2 years
  • 3, 4, 5 years
  • K, 1, 2 grades
  • 3, 4, 5 grades

Caring leaders introduce babies and toddlers to God’s love by praying for them and creating a safe, comfortable atmosphere.  Two year olds experience Bible stories, videos, and age appropriate activities that help them learn more about God’s love.

Children ages three to five years experience Bible stories, videos, fun worship songs with motions and movement, and age appropriate activities.  Children are first introduced to meeting in small groups and beginning to build relationships with each other and leaders as they learn about God. By the time they are five years old, we want every child to believe these three truths:
  • God made me.
  • God loves me.
  • Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

Children in K to 5th grade experience high-energy worship, a chronological study through the Bible, engaging age-appropriate activities, and intentional small groups.  A fun environment is the setting for kids to build strong relationships with each other and their leaders as they learn about God. When your son or daughter transitions into middle school, we want them to know three very important things:

  • God created me in His image.
  • The Bible is God’s unified story of redemption through Jesus Christ.
  • God wants me to share the good news of the Gospel with others

  • Maria & Mark holmen have wrote a series of books called faith begins at home. there is a book for moms and a book for dads.  below is the description of the book for dads.

Most Christian dads want to be the kind of father who guides his children in their walk with God--but many don't have the first clue where to start. This new series of Faith Begins @Home resources is designed to help parents bring faith home. Faith Begins @Home Dad is an easy-to-use resource that starts from square one and ends in a 24/7 lifestyle of family faith. Dads will find step-by-step tips and age-appropriate guides for leading their families' spiritual development, as well as true-life stories from other dads experiencing the power and blessing of God in their homes as they develop their "spiritual skills" with their children.

  • Perfection is the enemy of parenting. Jim Daly sees and hears from mothers and fathers trying hard to pursue perfection. They listen to the best experts and read all the right books. When someone gives them a “World’s Best Mom” or “No. 1 Dad” coffee mug, they want it to be true. And they want their children to pursue perfection, too.

It’s admirable for parents to be the very best moms and dads they can be for their children. But sometimes in so doing, they leave grace behind – both for themselves and their children. Jim believes that our quest for perfection, a quest that he believes is particularly strong among Christians, runs counter to God’s own boundless gift of grace. We can become Pharisaical parents, quoting endless rules and holding everyone to impossible standards. But God doesn’t want us, and our kids don’t need us, to be perfect. As parents, we’re called to simply do our best. And when we fail – which we will – we’re called to try again tomorrow.

Though he’s the President of Focus on the Family, Jim does not promise that his book will be a catalyst for a perfect family. But it can help point the way toward a good family – one that feels safe and warm; one filled with love and laughter. This book will encourage mothers and fathers to embrace the messiness of parenthood and show grace to their own less-than-ideal children. Jim, through his own experiences, expertise, and array of stories, will lead both moms and dads to a better understanding of what being a good family is all about.

  • You know that thing when you're in Walmart at noon before you discover you haven't brushed your teeth? Sarah Parshall Perry gets that. She also gets weird things showing up in her bed, her daughter asking for war paint, and her son crawling into a giant blue sock on Christmas morning. Mainly, she gets that conflicted feeling of finding her kids hanging out in the dogs' cages and happily realizing they have stopped getting into trouble for a minute.

According to Perry, "The hardest stuff is the quickest way to God," and readers get to watch the systematic destruction of her carefully planned life, laughing at her missteps, aching at her tragedies, and recognizing themselves along the way. A mother of three children, two of whom are on the autism spectrum, she has experienced plenty of ups and downs, but from the chaos of her "ordinary" life she pulls the universal truths of motherhood, addressing them with humor, poignancy, and a naked honesty that will make the reader think, That sounds a lot like my crazy life. Perry helps mothers realize they aren't alone, even if they've fallen off the straight and narrow of their intended path and are instead lying in the ditch next to it. Life's a mess. But as Perry reminds us, it's all for a purpose.

Perfect for mothers, this book will encourage, inspire, and enlighten.
