At First Baptist Church (FBC), we believe that membership is an expression of our commitment to one another and to the vision and purpose of FBC. It’s about joining a family that is united in our beliefs and purpose of drawing life from God and pointing others to him.
At FBC, we believe that church membership is important for a couple of reasons:
1. A commitment to a local church body is biblical and was the normal practice of the early New Testament church.
2. Church membership provides us with a place to use our spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians12, Romans 12, Ephesians 4), it gives us a spiritual community to support our growth as Christ followers (Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 5:21, Hebrews 10:24-25), it places us under the spiritual protection of church leaders (Hebrews 13:17, Acts 20:28) and it communicates to other church members that we are committed to one another.
The starting point for the membership process here at FBC begins with our Discover FBC Class. During the class we talk about what it means to be a member at FBC, give you some tools to help you in your spiritual journey and explain the details of the membership process. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and connect with some of the FBC staff and other FBC members. Our Discover FBC class is offered four times a year. Our next class is January 5, 2020, from noon to 2:00 p.m with lunch included.
